Purpose
The Westford Cultural Council is a committee of volunteers appointed by the Board of Selectmen and is responsible for disbursing funds received from the Massachusetts Cultural Council to local cultural and artistic activities. The Council review proposals and grants funds to local applicants for a variety of projects that benefit Westford citizens.
The Westford Cultural Council's mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Westford community by supporting arts, humanities, and sciences programs held in Westford, and by Westford artists, arts organizations, schools, and community organizations.
The Westford Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences, and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
FY26 Grant Applications
Westford Culture Council is actively seeking applications from individuals and organizations that would like to conduct cultural activities in and around the town of Westford between July 1, 2025 and December 31, 2026. We are excited and looking forward to supporting any events & activities that promote culture & arts. All applications must be made online. No paper applications will be accepted. Deadline: Thursday, October 16, 2025
Organizations, schools, and individuals may apply for grants that support arts, humanities, and science programs in the community. These grants can be used to support a variety of projects and activities within Westford - including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies, or performances in schools, workshops, and lectures.
Required supporting documents, as listed below, must be included with the online application. Incomplete applications may not be considered.

The council also recommends that applicants consolidate
- same events held at multiple venues, or
- multiple similar events held at the same venue
Failure to consolidate such events into one application may result in denial.

Council Priorities
The council has used community input from Westford residents to guide its funding priorities for grant applications (listed below)
- Communitywide gatherings like Festivals, Concerts, Plays, etc.
- Arts & Music Education in/outside schools
- Nature, Science & Environmental Education projects
- Projects/Events celebrating local cultural diversity
Level of Support
The council does not fully fund any programs. To demonstrate that your program is not dependent solely on Westford Cultural Council funding, you must specify other sources of financial support in the budget section of the application.
Note: Grants will be paid out on reimbursement basis only i.e. after expenses have been incurred and documented.
