Search for Candidates to Serve on the Commission on Disability
Westford’s Commission on Disability (COD) is currently seeking candidates for two positions. The COD’s mission, guided by duties we are charged with performing under Massachusetts law, includes advocating for persons with disabilities and assisting town officials in ensuring compliance with state and federal disability-related laws.
- Resident-at-Large Member: While some positions on the Commission must be filled by a person with disability or family member of such a person, this is not a requirement of the Resident-at-Large position. Members are appointed by Selectmen for three-year terms.
- Associate Member: In 2018, the COD established the category of Associate Membership. We are seeking candidates interested in serving as one of our two Associates. Associate Members are appointed by the COD to serve in an advisory capacity. While they do not vote, they are involved in all other activities of the COD. Preference will be given to individuals who have a disability or are family members of those with a disability.
