Police Department
The primary purpose of the Westford Police Department is to provide a high level of safety, security, and service for members of the community in a manner that affirms the fair and equitable treatment of all. As a regulatory agency of local government, the police department has the direct responsibility for the preservation of public peace, for the reduction of the opportunity to commit crime, and for the effective delivery of impartial, high-quality, accountable police services that ensure everyone has a safe place to live, work, and visit.

License to Carry Process:
If you are applying for or renewing your LTC, please mail in your application, use the online portal or physically drop off your application at the RECORDS window of the Police Department. ALL applications MUST include the appropriate fee of $100 via cash, check or money order only. Applications received without payment will NOT be processed. Once processed you will receive a phone call to advise you of the next step. To begin the process of applying online, please click the "Firearms Rules and Regulations" on the left-hand navigation and follow the instructions.
Employment and Security Fingerprints:
The Police Department provides, as a service to the residents of the Town of Westford, fingerprinting from 7 pm-9 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 9 am to 11 am. No appointment is necessary.
Requesting Copies of Police Records and Reports:
Please call the Public Safety Communications Department at 978-399-2345 and request to speak to the Police Records Department.
Town of Westford Winter Parking Ban:
In accordance with Chapter 199 § 12 of the Westford Town Code, there is no on street parking longer than 1 hour between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. from November 1st through March 31st.
There is to be no on-street parking of any kind during a snowstorm or following a storm while clean-up is still taking place.
In addition, vehicles impeding snow removal, or violating the above two sections, will receive a $25.00 fine, with the possibility of being towed. Throwing, dumping, or leaving snow in the roadway is a $50.00 fine.
Wearing Masks / Face Coverings is optional for visitors while in the Police Department, Communications Department, and Lobby Area.

Ice Cream Trucks
All ice cream trucks are now required to post an 8 1/2 x 11 permit with a photo of the operator in their truck window, visible to patrons. Please contact local police if no permit is posted.
Solicitor Information
In Westford, ALL Solicitors must register at the Police Department before going door to door to make sales and/or promote their business. If these individuals are legitimate they will be issued a Westford Solicitors Permit and a photo ID card. If a solicitor comes to your door, ask to see their Police issued ID before conducting any business with them. If they do not have one, call us at 978-399-2345.
If possible, provide us with their description and that of any vehicle they may be using.D
Notice to Potential Solicitors and Ice Cream Truck Vendors
Permit applications are only accepted Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Applicants must be present, with a positive ID and an application processing fee of $50. All applicants are subject to the Town of Westford Civil Fingerprinting Bylaw and any associated fees as well. It is strongly recommended that you call in advance to make an appointment.
