MassDOT Bridge Inspectors have discovered structural failures in a small bridge over Boutwell Brook near 13 Old Homestead Road. The Department of Public Works has closed the road to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, on a long term basis, until a solution can be designed and constructed. Residents will have access to their properties, but may need to detour onto Long Meadow Road. Trash, recycling, school buses, mail and other deliveries will remain on schedule, but will be subject to the detour as well. Commuters are asked to avoid this area and seek alternate routes if possible.
