Good afternoon,
Communities throughout Massachusetts have detected positive mosquitos for West Nile Virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE).
An individual aged 70-79 from Middlesex County has tested positive for WNV. Another individual aged 70-79 from Middlesex County has tested positive for EEE virus. Due to these detections, EEE and WNV risk levels for several cities and towns have been elevated. Recommended public health measures include raising awareness among residents, reminding residents to use mosquito repellents with an EPA-registered active ingredient and observing peak mosquito activity at dusk and dawn.
