The Town of Westford 2024 Townwide Paving Program is set to begin later this week. This year's program proposes to pave 18 roads totaling approximately five centerline miles of roadway under the Chapter 90 program and an additional two roads under the Town's mitigation agreement, adding 1.7 centerline miles to the program.
Newport Construction will be performing the work for both the $1.04M Chapter 90 paving program (approximately 9,500 tons of bituminous asphalt), and the mitigation paving. Work is scheduled to begin later this week with the grinding of driveway butt joints and road end joints. The next phase of work will be paving a leveling/shim course of pavement on certain roads followed by the resetting of catch basin and manhole frames. Finally, the final wearing course of pavement will be placed on each road. The contract completion date for the program is September 30, 2024.
Work being proposed in the 2024 program includes the following:
1. Old Beaver Brook Road: Pave shim 1” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5). Grind to match Beaver Brook Road at both ends.
2. Boutwell Hill Road: Pave shim 1” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5). Grind to match at Pine Ridge Road.
3. Jester Road: Pave shim 1.5” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5). Grind to match at Providence Road.
4. Meadow Lane: Pave shim 1” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5). Grind to match West Street at both ends.
5. Newport Drive: Mill 1.5”. Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5).
6. Starr Circle: Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5). Grind to match Robinson Road.
7. Hyacinth Drive: Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5). Grind to match Cold Spring Road.
8. Joyce Circle: Pave shim 1” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5).
9. Links Road: Pave shim 1” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5).
10. Doris Road: Remove existing pavement (through milling or excavation). Pave 2.5” binder course (Superpave mix SIC-19.0) and 1.5” top course (Superpave mix SSC-12.5).
11. Jo-Jo Lane: Oak Hill Road to Emerson: Mill 1.5”. Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5). Emerson to Doris Road: Remove existing pavement (through milling or excavation). Pave 2.5” binder course (Superpave mix SIC-19.0) and 1.5” top course (Superpave mix SSC-12.5).
12. Wayne Road: Pave shim 1” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5). Grind to match at Old Lowell Road.
13. Woods Pond Drive: Pave shim 1” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5). Grind to match at Groton Road.
14. Lorden Drive: Pave shim 1” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5).
15. Terrace Drive: Pave shim 1” average (Superpave mix SLC-9.5). Overlay 1.5” (Superpave mix SSC-12.5).
