Mission Statement

The mission of the Parks & Recreation Department is to ensure the smooth, efficient operation, management and administration of the overall workings of the department's three divisions: Parks and Grounds, Recreation Services and Programs, and Cemetery Operations. The administration of the department ensures the divisions operations are appropriate, cost-effective, and of the highest quality.

The mission of the Recreation Enterprise is to enhance the quality of life though enriching experiences that support the Westford community. The department provides high quality, safe activities and services designed to meet the year round interests of the community. Programs and services are provided in an efficient, cost-effective, affordable, and inclusive manner.

The mission of the Parks and Grounds Department is to ensure all park and grounds maintenance services are appropriate, cost-effective, and of the highest quality. The employees work to preserve and enhance Westford's active and passive recreation areas, municipal grounds, monuments, playgrounds, beaches, skate park, sand volleyball court, tennis and basketball courts.

Summer is here! Westford Parks & Recreation Concerts on the Common

Come enjoy local music talent for FREE on Sundays from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets to the Westford Town Common on Main Street to enjoy great music from some of our community’s most talented performers.

Westford Partnership for Children (WPC)
After-School Enrichment Program for K-8

WPC (Westford Partnership for Children), the Westford Parks & Recreation After School Enrichment Program, provides a safe, stimulating and fun environment Monday through Friday from school dismissal until 5:45 p.m. The program is located at each elementary school, and Stony Brook Middle School, to ensure an easy and safe transition from the classroom to the program. The WPC staff combines seasoned, knowledgeable adult site directors supported with energetic college and high school age staff who are CPR and First Aid certified. Excellent communication between the WPC team and school staff supports your child's academic, social, and emotional development.

The WPC program encompasses a range of activities, including but not limited to home work help, science exploration, math, technology, storytelling, visual arts, sports, and games. There are five sessions throughout the school year with new activities added in each session. Westford Community Rowing (WCR)

Westford Community Rowing (WCR) is a Westford Parks & Recreation program that is supported by Westford Friends of Recreation (WFOR), a volunteer board whose mission is to improve the recreational opportunities that are available to the community.

WCR provides a rowing experience that is on and off the water, both competitive and recreational, for rowers of all ages and abilities, from novices to experienced oarspeople. To learn more about this low-impact, heart-healthy sport visit About Rowing on

Winter Clean Up Reminder for Westford Cemeteries 

Please remember that artificial flowers, wreaths, sprays, and potted decorations are only permitted from December 1st through April 1st.  Baskets or other containers, not of a permanent nature, must be removed by the owners if they choose to preserve them, otherwise they will be removed. One flower bed is allowed on each monument lot and cannot extend more than 12" from the base of the monument.
