Half-Staff: The date of interment, in honor of 1LT Joseph Finneran, USAAC, (KIA, Ploesti, Romania, 1943) 2019-11-09T06:30:00Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, November 9, 2019, the date of interment, in honor of 1LT Joseph Finneran, USAAC, (KIA, Ploesti, Romania, 1943) of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts and a native of Needham, Massachusetts.
Remains of 1LT Finneran, who was killed on August 1, 1943 when serving as crewmember to the B-24 bomber “Ole Baldy” that was shot down that day during Operation Tidal Wave, will be laid to rest at the Mount Benedict Cemetery, 409 Corey Street, Boston, MA on this day.
