Did you know that if not properly managed, leaf litter and yard debris can be a source of pollution that can affect the water quality in our streams, ponds, and lakes? Some helpful tips to follow when cleaning up your yard this fall:

  • Avoid blowing leaves into the street and keep them off impermeable surfaces
  • Consider mulching leaves into your lawn or add them to a compost pile
  • Clear storm drains of leaves and debris regularly to prevent flooding
