Pickleball
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, racquetball and ping-pong. The rules are simple and easy for beginners to learn. While many players enjoy the social aspects of the game and the ability to stay active in their towns and communities, other more competitive players really enjoy the quick, fast paced nature of the game. Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net, a paddle and a plastic ball with holes. Pickleball can be played either as doubles or singles. Pickleball will be starting on Tuesday June 20th for a 6 week session on Tuesdays at 10 am that will be held at The Mill Works located at 22 Town Farm Road. The cost of this class will be $5.00 per person per session ($30) pay at the start of each Session to Mill Works. Call 978 692 5523 to sign up.
Ping Pong
Participation in recreational ping-pong at the Cameron Senior Center is available at the following times: Monday at 1:45 till 4:00, Tuesday at 3:30 till 7:30, and Friday at 9:45 till noon. Anyone can come and play. It takes place on the second floor of the Cameron Senior Center in the Card Room. As one member put it, it is strictly “social" ping-pong. There is no raucous behavior. And for those just beginning, there is help readily available from some of the more experienced members. All of the equipment necessary to play is stored in the Card Room. There are three high quality tables, and they can be set up in a matter of minutes. Some members bring their own paddles, since they like the ones with a rubberized surface. There are only four of those available for common use in the Card Room. There are plenty of the more “rigid” type paddles available though. To keep things organized, there is a "sign up" board - which is necessary to indicate the assignment of each player on the sign-up board to a particular table and who his partner is. This is done for each game. The assignment of partners is randomized to the maximum extent possible. If you are interested in joining this fun group please email Katie Russell at krussell@westfordma.gov
