Fire Prevention

About Us

Fire Prevention is a key function within the fire department. The goal of the Westford Fire Prevention Office includes educating the public on how to prevent fires and how to take precautions for survival. Fire Prevention achieves this goal through three specific objectives:

  • Education
  • Engineering
  • Enforcement

The Westford Fire Department provides these services by educating the public through our Student Awareness Fire Education Program (S.A.F.E.). Engineering is often approached through Codes, Standards, and use of alternative methods that will secure equivalent safety acceptable to public safety officials. This is achieved through plan review and inspections conducted by our office as well as the building department. Enforcement is through inspection services enforcing MA Fire Prevention Laws, Rules and Regulations.

The Westford Fire Department prides itself in having a successful proactive inspection program. Quarterly commercial inspections are completed regularly by each of our four shifts of firefighters to identify and correct any potential hazards before an emergency situation occurs. Fire Prevention is a coordinated effort from our dedicated fire personnel to the consumer. We thank our community for working with us to secure a safe place to live, work and play.
