Town Hall Offices Update

The Town Manager's Office is moving today (10/21/2008) to the Millennium School at 23 Depot Street.

This completes all of the planned moves to date. Any future changes will be posted as soon as they become available.

The Finance and HR Departments are now located at the Millennium School at 23 Depot Street. Click here for a complete directory of relocated departments.

The Town Manager's Office will be moving to Millennium after the Special Town Meeting on October 20.

The Assessors Office is moving today (October 3, 2008) from the Water Department at 60 Forge Village Road to the Millennium Building at 23 Depot Street.

We appreciate your patience during the transition today and should be somewhat back to normal at the new location by Monday (October 6, 2008).

Construction is nearly complete for additional Town Offices at the Millennium Building at 23 Depot Street. The Town Manager hopes to move out of the Police Department and to the Millennium within the next few weeks. The Finance Department, Human Resources and the Assessors Department will also be moving to Millennium in the near future.

The Town Clerk's Office will be moving to the Millennium Building at 23 Depot St (located behind Abbot School) on Tuesday, July 22nd. The office will be closed on that day but will reopen on Wednesday, July 23rd, resuming normal business hours (M-F, 8am - 4pm). We appreciate your patience as we settle into our new work environment.

The Official USPS mailing address for Town departments formerly located in Town Hall will remain 55 Main Street.

Meeting Posting Update
The Official Meeting postings are now being maintained directly on the web. The Official meeting posting board, which will move to the Millennium Building with the Town Clerk's office will reflect the information that has been posted to the Town Calendar.

The Tax Collector’s Office will be relocated on Monday, June 30, 2008 from the Police Station to the School Administration Center, 23 Depot Street. The mailing address will remain as 55 Main Street.

Town Hall, 55 Main Street, continues to be closed due to structural issues. Below are the current locations of the relocated departments. Any changes will be posted here as soon as they are available.

Many of the Town Offices currently relocated to the Police Department are in the process of moving to the School Administration Building. An updated directory will be published as soon as those moves are complete.

Town Hall offices are now operational in satellite locations. The discovery of failed beams in Town Hall prompted a rapid evacuation from the building. Through an amazing amount of cooperation, most departments were operational within 24 hours of the order to vacate. This is a tribute to our staff and to the hours we have spent in training for emergency preparedness. There are far too many people involved to thank individually, but special recognition goes to the Technology Department that was tasked with tying in computers and phones at new locations, and Captain Steve Ducharme of the Fire Department who has actively helped offices relocate in the Rogers Fire Station by doing temporary wiring.

We recognize the fact that office relocation will provide a hardship for the public as we can temporarily not offer one stop service. We are diligently reviewing our options and will be providing the Board of Selectmen with a report on Tuesday evening.  

We appreciate the support that we have heard from our citizens and appreciate everyone’s patience as we attempt to solve this problem.

We are in the process of moving Town Hall Departments to other Town Buildings. Web, Email and Phone communication will be operational during this time. Please note that although all phone numbers will stay the same during this process, staff may be delayed in responding during the move. Also, some fax numbers may change temporarily as well. At this point, we do not know how long the town hall will be closed. In the meantime, departments will be relocating to the following buildings:

Finance and HR Departments will be at the Rogers Fire Station, 39 Town Farm Road

Assessors will be in the Water Department Conference Room, 60 Forge Village Road

Permitting Departments will be in the Highway Conference Room, Town Garage, 28 North Street

Board of Health will be at the School Administration Building, 23 Depot Street

Town Manager, Town Clerk and the Collector will be at the Police Department, 53 Main Street

Occupancy of the Town Hall building at 55 Main Street has been revoked because of structural failure at several points in the building and the building is currently closed.

Please bear with us as we relocate various departmental functions to other town buildings.

More detailed information as to location of departments will be posted on this website as soon as possible.
